2-Alarm Townhome Fire in The Greater Uptown Area
Firefighters arrived at the 2400 block of Augusta Drive on May 14, 2020, at 3:42pm, to find fire coming from two separate townhome buildings. Heavy fire was coming from the first floor through the attic on the building of origin and from the second floor through the attic of the other building. Smoke was coming from all of the eaves and multiple units on the second floor of each building as well. A second alarm was requested and crews began an attack on the fire. Primary searches were done in both buildings. Crews removed the ceiling until the fire was located between units in the attic. The utilities were secured and the buildings were monitored for stability and integrity throughout the incident. Crew members were also monitored for fatigue and heat exhaustion. The fire was extinguished and firefighters coordinated with the American Red Cross and the Property Management to assist the residents. Crews from Stations 2, 38, 28, 68, 5, 3, 37, 69, 16, 51, 60, 78, 76, 57, 24, 8, Rescue 10 and Rehab responded to this incident.
