Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of two women and two juveniles at 9635 Scott Street about 9:15 p.m. on May 30.
The suspect, Tristan Fontenot, age 22, is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court,
The deceased male is identified as Keenan Greene, 22.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Clark and M. Nicotra reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a convenience store at the above address and found multiple persons had been struck by gunfire, including three adults and two juveniles. One victim, later identified as Mr. Greene, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The other victims, a juvenile male, 2, a juvenile female, 13, and two women, Kaylin Bray, 22, and Shakeria Posey, 20, were transported to area hospitals in stable conditions.
A preliminary investigation determined a verbal altercation may have occurred between Greene and a male suspect at a party being held near the above address. The altercation escalated and resulted in shots being fired. According to witnesses, there may have been multiple suspects who fled the scene, one of whom was described as a tall black male with a thin build, approximately 20 to 25 years of age.
Further investigation identified Fontenot as a suspect and, on Tuesday (June 30), he was taken into custody without incident. At least one other suspect described only as a black male, 20 to 25 years of age, remains at large.
