Two Killed in the House Fire in the Central Southwest Area

Houston Firefighters arrived at the 4800 block of Tidewater,  on August 18, 2020, at 4:28 a.m., and found smoke and fire coming from a one-story home with a report of people trapped. The back porch had fallen and access was not possible. Firefighters cut burglar bars to gain access and forced open the front door where they located a victim. They removed the resident and took them to waiting EMS crews. A second victim was found in the kitchen area. Firefighters extinguished the fire and requested HFD Arson investigators to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Crews from Stations 59, 21, 48, 80, 2, 24, Rescue 10, and Rehab 8 responded to this incident. Members of the HFD Public Affairs Team also canvassed the neighborhood today, August 20, and provided fire safety information to the nearby residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the HFD Arson Investigators.
